If you see a deal on the Internet that seems too good to be true, El Paso Sheriff's detectives warn, it probably is.

The white collar crime office is warning El Pasoans about a growing number of Internet scams involving Craigslist.com.

It starts with a job posting for a mystery or secret shopper.

Victims agree to cash a check then return some of the money via a wire transfer.

That's when victim’s bank accounts are wiped clean.

Anyone affected is asked to call El Paso Crime Stoppers at 915-566-TIPS.
