EL PASO, Texas -- El Paso Electric gets one step closer to bringing smart grid technology to the Sun City.Rep. Silvestre Reyes announced Tuesday the Department of Energy will award El Paso Electric more than $1 million to support the development of the technology.The money comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and Reyes says the technology could not only save money for customers but help reduce harmful emission levels.
