HENDERSON, Nev. -- A soccer coach in Henderson, Nev., is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old after a police officer found the two together, Las Vegas television station KVVU reported.

Gabriel Lopez, 40, was charged with statutory sexual seduction after an officer saw him and the 15-year-old in a parked truck at the Arroyo Grande Sports Complex.

Lopez denied having sex with the 15-year-old, but police said the teen's mother admitted having knowledge -- and gave approval -- of the affair.

Police said the girl met Lopez at a private soccer club and she admitted to carrying on an affair since May. In an arrest report, the girl said she initially sought guidance and advice from him, and their friendship blossomed into love.

When asked about the sexual relationship, the girl told police she and Lopez had sex at least a dozen times, most recently in his truck after the two had gone to see the movie “The Stepfather.”

The arrest report also describes how the girl’s mother came to know about the relationship and approved it, telling her daughter “you can’t deny who you fall in love with.” Police said the mother also approved Lopez giving her daughter a cell phone so he could call her without her father seeing the calls.

During an interview with detectives, Lopez denied having sex with the girl, saying only that he wanted an attorney.
