Those Who Worked With Slain Mother Speak To KFOX

Employees reacted with shock Thursday to news a mother of two was killed in a Lower Valley collision.

Ronnette Garcia was killed late Wednesday night, when her car collided head on with another on Socorro Road.

Garcia worked as a dough room supervisor here at Incredible Pizza Company, working for her two children, a 9-year-old girl and 10-month-old boy.

"We opened nearly two years ago, she was actually part of the opening team," said Stephen White, the managing partner at Incredible Pizza Company.

White had to break the news to his employees.

"The ladies that were here this morning, just broke down in tears, and their hearts go out, so it's been a challenging morning," White told KFOX.

He found out from Garcia's father.

"Her family, actually her father called us this morning and expressed what happened, and it's been kind of a, kind of a sad day," he said.

The same father in tears early Thursday morning, when he realized his daughter had passed away.

El Paso police said Garcia was driving in the wrong lane and without headlights on the 9800 block of Socorro Road, when she slammed into a 1997 Toyota Camry.

"It's always important to pay attention obviously when you're driving and on a two lane road where you have one lane in each direction, it's even more important to make sure you're always on your side," said El Paso police Officer Chris Mears.

And while business will go on as usual at Incredible Pizza Company, it is easy to tell that Garcia's personality is missing..

"She had a lot of care, and when she was here, you saw it in her work," said White. "Hard working, very dependable and she's truly missed."

Police are waiting on toxicology reports to find out if alcohol played a part in the crash. The two people in the Camry that Garcia hit were not seriously hurt.
