A 26-year-old woman was shot in the chest at the Value Place Extended Stay Hotel early Sunday morning.

El Paso police responded to the incident at 12215 Gateway West in east El Paso just before 5 a.m. The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to University Medical Center for treatment.

Police have not revealed if the victim was a hotel employee or someone renting a room.

No arrests have been made, and that has some staying at the hotel ready to check out.

"I'm moving," said Aaron Turnbaugh, who rented a room at the hotel for several weeks while in El Paso on business. "I'm paid up for another week, but I'm getting out of here."

According to scanner reports, a man wanted for questioning about the shooting returned to the hotel around 10 a.m. Police will not confirm if the man, or anyone else, was questioned or in police custody.

"El Paso police continue to investigate this incident," said Darrel Petry, of the El Paso police department. "Anyone with information regarding the crime is asked to call the El Paso police department."

The shooting is the second in El Paso over the weekend. On Saturday, a teenager was shot multiple times in a lower valley apartment complex parking lot.
