Mesquite Mercantile Robbed By 2 With Scissors

MESQUITE, N.M. -- A Mesquite store was robbed Thursday by two individuals who threatened the clerk with a pair of scissors, the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Department said.At 9:48 p.m., Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Mesquite Mercantile located on State Highway 478 in Mesquite in reference to a robbery.According to sheriff's investigators, two individuals entered the store and confronted the clerk on duty, threatening the clerk with a pair of scissors.The two men made off with cash and checks, but not before grabbing and pushing the clerk, causing the clerk to strike his head against the door, injuring the clerk in the process, said deputies.One of the individuals was described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 250 to 270 pounds, wearing a black and white checkered shirt and light blue or white tennis shoes. He also wearing a gray small net cap with a bill and attempted to conceal his identity with a black ski head band.The other person was described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 1 inch tall, wearing an oversized Denver Broncos jacket, gray sweat pants and white tennis shoes with black shoe laces.The man, in an attempt to conceal his identity, wore a red bandana around his face.Anyone with any information concerning this incident is asked to contact Investigator Lindell Wright at 575-525-1911.
