LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- A Border Patrol vehicle with horse trailer was found just minutes later, but thief still at large.The incident happened sometime around 10 p.m. on Tuesday said Ramiro Cordero who is the U.S. Border Patrol supervisor for the El Paso sector.He said Border Patrol officers were looking for activity in the Santa Teresa desert just off of Highway 9.The officers were on horseback so they got to their location using a horse trailer attached to a border patrol unit. Cordero said after patrolling the area, the agents went back to their vehicle to find it and the trailer missing.However, just minutes after notifying central dispatch and local authorities, both the trailer and vehicle were found, but in separate locations. Cordero said the vehicle was located near the Santa Teresa airport and the trailer just east of the Pete Domenici highway.“In this case, we don't know how the vehicle got started, or who started it. There are no subjects in custody,” said Cordero.The investigation is ongoing, but the vehicle did not have any equipment missing or sustain any damage.
