El Paso Police said Monday they arrested a man from Mexico in the city’s 10th murder of the year. Officers said they arrested 19-year-old Sergio Rene Montejano of Juarez, Mexico in the shooting death of 45 year-old Juan Santos.

The shooting happened Sunday at around 9:30 p.m.

KFOX obtained a copy of the arrest affidavit, which names the suspect as Sergio Rene Montejano Rodriguez. In the document, officers said Montejano also walked up to two men in a truck on Florence and Sixth streets and opened fire on them. Those men were not hurt, but feared for their lives, the affidavit stated.

"I have kids,” said Ana Catarino, who lives near the crime scene. “Imagine if something would happen right there where we're staying now. I would feel bad."

Investigators said Montejano had plans to flee back to Mexico before they caught him. They said they were able to get a description of Montejano and catch him before he left the country. The affidavit states that Montejano implicated himself as the shooter in Santos’s death in a video recording.

Montejano faces is facing a murder charge and two counts of criminal attempt murder. He is in jail on a $120,000 bond.
