EL PASO, Texas -- Some doctors in East El Paso say they're noticing more births than usual. The number of babies born at Sierra Providence East Medical Center could be proof of a mini baby boom in East El Paso. Already 1,700 babies were born in the last 17 months since this hospital has been opened. In Sierra Providence East Medical Center's nursery, nurses see about 150 babies a month. The hospital opened last year to accommodate the growth in east El Paso. Sierra Providence East expects to deliver between 3,000 and 3,500 babies in the next two years. One ob-gyn said the eastside is in a category of its own. Dr. Michiel Noe said in his eastside office he sees a younger age group, therefore you have more women who can have babies."But we keep up. You just have to work a little harder and a little longer. I can't speak for all my colleagues, but we work evening clinics as well as all day. We work weekends. We try to keep up as best we can," said Noe.In the same amount of time Sierra Providence East has been open, another east El Paso hospital, Del Sol Medical Center, has delivered 3,120 babies in 17 months.
