LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- New Mexico State University enrollment is up and, while that may be a good thing for the school, it is causing an issue for students when trying to find a parking spot.“You're constantly circling like a vulture until someone pulls out,” said NMSU student Robert O’Brien.“I have to leave my house about 30 minutes in advance and I live five minutes away,” said NMSU student Patrick Castillo. These are just a couple of the complaints you'll hear when talking to an NMSU student about parking. Many students also wonder why there are so few parking spots for students, but more than enough for faculty and staff.“The commuter spots will be really full then you'll look over to the faculty side and half of it will be empty,” said NMSU student Palloa Paggio.Students' anger with the NMSU parking situation seems to be so bad, KFOX came across a truck with a bumper sticker that simply had a four letter word, beginning in F, followed by “NMSU parking.” But, the issue of parking isn't going unnoticed, said student regent Chris Anaya.“It definitely is an issue and it's definitely stuff that we talk about and we look for solutions,” said Anaya. There is one option and it's the Aggie transit. Apparently it's been around for years, but no one has known about it.NMSU’s student government has taken over the transit system and plans to make a strong push to promote the bus system.“I've never even heard what it is, I don't even know what it is,” said Castillo.“Previously it was under other departments on campus where nothing really happened with it, except it was operating so all you saw was buses, but now we've got new maps we've gotten on-line,” said Williams.
