ANTHONY, NM -- Some residents in Anthony claim the gang problem is increasing and they are asking for help.Ann Hernandez’s house looks a bit like a warzone. Her Anthony home has vandalized. Her front window is shattered along with the majority of her car windows.“I do not sleep, because I sleep in the living room trying to listen to who's going to come up here," Hernandez said.Hernandez has seen the gangs first hand, her 19-year-old son, who didn't want to speak to KFOX, has been trying to get out of the Tenors street gang."They're like at war with each other," Hernandez said.It seems the Tenor’s rival gang the Dukes don't like the fact that he is her son and is trying to straighten out."He's doing the right things, he's walking away, he's holding back, he's not fighting back, and he's getting frustrated as much as I'm getting frustrating," Hernandez said.Although maybe a target, the Hernandez family hasn't seen the gang activity increase. KFOX reporter Derek Shore spoke to a number of neighbors that have seen the increase, including the owner of a van that had been spray painted with Dukes logos."No arrests were made, and this is even while I was out there speaking to the officers -- a rock was thrown. It bounced off my truck and hit the police officer's truck," Hernandez said.Neighbors, including Hernandez, said they have called Dona Ana sheriffs, who responded but never made any arrests."It's getting worse, it's getting worse," Hernandez said.KFOX left a number of messages for Dona Ana Sheriff’s public affairs office for comment on this story. They did not return calls Sunday night.
