When Spc. James Kiehl depolyed from Ft. Bliss last month with the 507th Maintenance Company, he knew he wouldn't be home for the birth of his first child. Now is family waits for word, hoping he will come home at some point.

Kiehl is a computer repair technician with the 507th. He was with a group of about 20 members of his unit that was ambushed near An Nasiriyah, Iraq on the fourth day of battle. Along with Kiehl, seven other members of the 507th are missing, 5 are prisoners of war, 2 were killed in action, and up to 4 were wounded but evacuated to safety.

Randy and Jane Kiehl say they're watching TV to see if the Iraqis air video of their son. Like other families in the 507th, they say they were surprised by word of the ambush and thought their son's unit was far from the fighting.

James wife Jill, is expecting to give birth to their first child, Nathaniel Ethan, the last week of April.
