Do's And Tattoos Offers Twist On Salon

There are places to get your hair cut, places to get piercings and places to get a tattoo. Now, all of those services can be found in one place at a one-of-a-kind business in the Sun City.

"We were just thinking of something new to bring to El Paso," said Guillermo Spencer, owner of Do's and Tattoos.

Spencer and his partner Mario Navarro dreamt up Do's and Tattoos during a long brainstorming session earlier this year.

"Both of us get a lot of tattoos and we got a lot of tattoo artist friends, and we thought of something to mix it together," Spencer told KFOX.

And so they mixed it together with an obvious choice, piercings, and a not so obvious choice, hair styling.

"It's definitely something refreshing for El Paso," said Marisa Gasper, a hair stylist at Do's and Tattoos.

Gasper recently moved from Las Vegas to El Paso.

"I actually got tattooed about five years ago, and fell in love with the whole culture," Gasper told KFOX.

With her hair cutting license in hand, she found a home at Do's and Tattoos.

"It's two separate businesses, and we both feed off of each other," said Gasper. "People come in and want to get piercings done and end up getting haircuts."

Do's and Tattoos is supposed to have an added twist -- the girls are supposed to be in bikinis. But Spencer told KFOX an old law on the books said hair stylists cannot show their arm pits.

Bikinis aside, it is still a very unique place.

"It's definitely not in the mold of anything. It's something totally different, totally refreshing for El Paso," said Gasper.

Spencer said he is working through all the legalities right now to get his hair stylists into bikinis.
