Breastfeeding Doll Draws Mixed Reaction From Borderland Moms

A doll that shows little girls how to breastfeed is drawing mixed reaction from Borderland mothers.

A toy company in Spain is making the doll called Bebe Gloton, which translates to Glutton Baby. The doll comes with a halter top that has daisies attached to it, to take the place of nipples. The doll even makes a suckling noise when its mouth is put on the daisies during feeding.

So far the doll has not been found in El Paso, but El Paso mothers have mixed reactions about the doll. "That's not cool. No I would never get that for my child," Lori Reynolds of west El Paso.

But moms who support breastfeeding said they support the product.

"I think that it’s great that people want to have a doll that promotes breastfeeding. Most dolls that are purchased come with a bottle. That is the norm in society, an artificial way to feed your baby," said Rose Haluschak of west El Paso.

August is Breastfeeding Awareness Month.
