Gloria Marmolejo Still Missing; Body Unidentified

El Paso police and Dona Ana County sheriff’s deputies still had not revealed the identity of the body of a woman found in the desert near Santa Teresa, N.M. Sunday or if the body is that of missing El Paso real estate agent Gloria Marmolejo.

Marmolejo, 54, has been missing since last Saturday, and police are calling her disappearance suspisicious. Her truck was located later at a school near her home in East El Paso, but there was no evidence that would lead to her location, police said.

The body of a woman in her 50s was located near Santa Teresa Elementary School Friday, but police have not released the woman’s identity.

Marmolejo is described by family and friends as a professional woman who would not just leave without telling her loved ones.

The disappearance of Marmolejo and the discovery of the woman’s body have many across El Paso on edge.

"It worries me, for my daughter and worries for myself, because we are both professional women and we do go out by ourselves, so we have to be more careful," said Herlinda Collins, of South Central El Paso.

"[It makes me feel] unsafe. We just have to watch our back, I guess. Knowing that somebody that lived here, you know a lot of people think this place is safe but the reality, I don't think it's safe," said Esther Dimaggio, of West El Paso.

KFOX reporter Derek Shore spoke with Marmolejo’s brother, Mark Huerta, Sunday. Huerta said he was told that the body’s identity would be released Monday.
