Man Charged With Extreme Animal Cruelty In Dona Ana County

A Dona Ana County man was arrested Thursday and charged with extreme animal cruelty.

A three-month-old Chihuahua mix had been dunked in water and thrown against a wall -- allegedly by 20-year-old Carlos Sanchez-Trillo.

Deputies said that after the dog was submerged in water and thrown against the wall it was beaten up with a rolled-up magazine. Authorities also found two other Chihuahuas and three pit bulls at Trillo’s home, said spokesman Bo Nevarez. Nevarez also said deputies found that there had been past animal abuse incidents at the home in the past.

The Chihuahua was euthanized by Sheriff’s Department Animal Control Officers.
