New Mexico Gets Money To Fight Underage Drinking

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- New Mexico now has money to keep alcohol out of the hands of teens. Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-New Mexico, said the New Mexico Department of Children, Youth and Families has been given $360,000 to help enforce underage drinking laws.The money will be used for innovative programs, prevention, education strategies and media campaigns. Some funds will also go toward educating those that sell alcohol."This federal funding will be put to good use to protect our state's youth from the dangerous effects of underage drinking," said Bingaman.The grant was awarded through the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
