Michael Jackson Music Tops Charts, Hard To Keep In Stock

Posted: 4:19 pm MDT July 3, 2009Updated: 5:08 pm MDT July 3, 2009

Michael Jackson's music topped the charts once again in the week following his death.

"We have kind of been hand to mouth on Michael Jackson product," said George Reynoso of All That Music in east El Paso. "As have all our distributors."

On the day Jackson died, the store sold 50 LPs and all their CDs and posters that they had in stock. The following day, another shipment arrived, but it sold out within one hour.

More than a week later, Reynoso said that sales are still strong. Emily Martinez and her mom flipped through Jackson's albums Friday trying to pick one to take home.

"Knowing that he's gone, it's trying to get as much of him while you can," said Martinez. "To remember him."

Reynoso said that "Thriller" is the most popular album according to sales, and there's one group that's mainly shelling out their money for Jackson merchandise.

"All the drama and all the sales right now are generated by the younger crowd," said Reynoso.

He said he expects strong sales to continue at least through Christmas.
