Recent Grads Struggle To Find Jobs

Posted: 4:18 pm MDT July 3, 2009Updated: 8:40 pm MDT July 3, 2009

There is no doubt the economy is struggling and the job market is tough, but KFOX wanted to see how recent New Mexico State University graduates are doing. Sarah Mulis, who graduated this past December, can easily describe her job search.

“Pretty horrible,” said Mulis.

Not only is it bad for her, but she knows many others who are currently struggling.

“From what I know most people haven't found a job. They are still working at the same restaurant, the same store they did in college and they don't seem to move up,” said Mulis.

Mulis has a current job, but it is not what she expected right out of college.

“I'm working here that kind of has a lot to do with my degree but I don't really get the hands on training. It is more secretarial work and other than that just kind of working at a retail job in the mall, so the same thing I did to get through college I'm doing post college,” said Mullis.

The struggle is similar for people who graduated this past May as well.

“It's just been kind of hard because it seems like a lot of employers are in a job freeze right now,” said Peter Dean who just graduated in May.

For both Dean and Mulis because of the recent struggle to find a job they both say they will go back to school to work on another degree.
