Las Cruces, N.M. -- The Vans Warped Tour is a nationwide tour that hits 45 cities across the country. Some of the big names that played today in Las Cruces included Thrice, Less Than Jake, and The Ataris among others. However, there was one El Paso band that was able to win a battle of the bands contest on the Warped Tour Web site allowing them to be one of the few bands from the Southwest to play.“We're still in shock, we kind of don't know how we won the contest,” said Justin Gibson.Their band name is Nausicaa and being from El Paso, today was their big shot.Mack Biernacki said, “…A dream come true this is the tour that we come to, to see our favorite bands and like playing here is where it's at it's what we always wanted to do. ”And after their performance, they had a few choice words on how it went.“It was sick, it was incredible, it was awesome we had tons of people yelling after our songs, it was great,” said Adam Nichols. The band said they hope to make it big someday, but first they just want to focus on getting their name out more and try to record a record.
