Rain Forces Socorro Families Out Of Their Home

While some stayed awake because of the loud thunderstorms in the Borderland, others stayed awake because they were evacuated from their homes.

Socorro residents living next to an arroyo on Worsham Road and Coker Road noticed the water quickly rising and rushing toward their homes . Their cars had a tough time making it through the road; one car got stuck in the thick mud, the water reached up to the car’s door.

The residents affected by the floods were provided shelter by the Red Cross at Socorro High School where cots and air mattresses were set up inside of in the gym, about 25 families sought shelter at the school.

Red Cross told KFOX they will be doing a damage assessment on the resident’s homes and helping them out.
