El Paso County Sheriff Deputies arrest a teen for allegedly vandalizing the historic San Lorenzo Catholic Church in Clint.

Andrew Borrego, 17, was charged with burglary of a building and evading arrest.

Investigators said they were flagged down by a Clint resident about 1:35 a.m Tuesday after the resident observed a man banging on a box with a sledgehammer near the church's business office.

Deputies said as they neared the office, a shirtless man ran from the church and into a nearby residential area. After following footsteps to a house, investigators said Borrego answered the door shirtless. He allegedly appeared nervous and had superficial cuts to his torso and hands.

Deputies said Borrego admitted to breaking into the church. The church's safe was found damaged.

Borrego was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
