EL PASO, Texas -- Rains and wind hit hard in Horizon City around 7 p.m. causing the gateway from Horizon Street to Eastlake to be closed for about 30 minutes. The reason for the closure was because two electric poles were pushed over just a little bit, but enough to cause power lines to dangle a little too close to the road. The El Paso Electric Company was also quickly on the scene and has been working on the lines since a little after 7 p.m. and plan to stay out fixing the problem until about 10 p.m.Witnesses said the storm was short but very strong.Truck driver Heidi Klein said, “It came on really sudden. It was really heavy. You couldn't see the overpass, which is just right there.”There were no injuries and traffic was quickly flowing on the gateway about 30 minutes after crews arrived to fix the electric poles.
