Spaceport America authorities are gearing up for Friday’s groundbreaking at the site in Sierra County, but Thursday the public was invited to celebrate.The New Mexico State University campus was transformed into a space-age site for regional residents to celebrate the beginning of public space travel.Families brought their kids to learn about the program and get information on everything outer space.Many said they feel like they are a part of history in the making. “I think it's an honor to be here with all these people just enjoying everybody’s company and just to see everything that's going on, just to be a part of it,” said Larissa Rivera of North Las Cruces.KFOX News will cover the groundbreaking, so be sure to tune in to KFOX News at 6 for more on our continuing coverage of the event.
