Man Claims Dealer Gave Him Car But No Title

Alex Zamora spent four years saving up and found the perfect truck at Treby Auto Sales, a 2000 Ford Excursion.

"We were just looking for a family vehicle,” Zamora said. "I bought it for $6,470 and it was $700 on top of that for tax, title and license."

Zamora said he put $4000 cash and had 21 days to pay the balance, but he got a phone call from Treby just days later.

"They said they were in trouble and that they needed money, that they were having some financial issues. So I went out there and paid them in full," Zamora said.

He took the truck and said he was promised the title he paid for would be processed and mailed to him. However, that was over two months ago. Now Zamora said he's been given the run around.

"They keep telling me that they're having problems with the state, that they owe money and that they're trying to sell cars to pay off their bills," Zamora said.

Zamora said he isn't alone.

"I would just hear people saying that they need their tags, that they need their title, that they need their money back," he said.

KFOX decided to try to talk to Treby Auto Sales about the case.

"We're doing a story because we've had a number of calls that people are not getting their titles once they've spent thousands of dollars here," reporter Derek Shore said.

A man claiming to be the manager told Shore to go in, away from KFOX cameras. Inside he told Shore he would sue both KFOX and Zamora if we did this story, and that the situation was none of Shore’s business.

So for tonight Zamora sits with a car he claims he can't prove is his, and hopes others don't get put in the same position.

"If they're saying that they have a legal business then they're not running it the right way," Zamora said.
