Students Cope With Death Of Coronado Student

Students at Coronado High School are leaving notes on Tania Lozoya’s locker to let her know how much she meant to them and that she will be missed. It is their way of dealing with her loss. The 15-year-old student was killed in Juarez Saturday when she was attending a birthday party with relatives.

She was on the softball team at Coronado High School and fellow team players are taking the news hard.

“It’s kind of hard to believe, like she’s here now she’s gone, “ Bianca Meinart, who said she played the right field position with Lazoya on the softball team. “We miss her and we all love her.”

Other students said the mood at school was quiet and rather somber Monday as students learned of the news.

“I was just shocked,” said Kevin Rodriguez, a student at Coronado High School. “I heard it was in Juarez. That’s sad. I hope it doesn’t spill over here,” he said.

Grief counselors were at the school today to help students deal with the loss of their classmate.

Family members are planning funeral arrangements.
