El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies arrest a man for allegedly kidnapping his estranged wife and child, then taking them to Juarez.

Investigators charged 25-year-old Fernando Lopez with kidnapping and violation of a protective order.

The EPCSO said Lopez's estranged wife walked into the Vinton station over the weekend to report that she and the couple's 2-year-old son had been kidnapped and held in a home in Juarez.

The victim allegedly told deputies that Lopez was taking pictures of her and a friend having dinner on May 6, violating a current protective order she has against Lopez for a previous assault. The victim said Lopez followed her car to a gas station in the Lower Valley, when he took the couple's son from the woman's car. The victim said Lopez threatened to hurt her and the child if she did not get into his vehicle. She complied and was taken to a home in Juarez where she was allegedly assaulted. Investigators say the victim called her mother on a cell phone to report her whereabouts and the victim's mother picked her and the boy up on May 9.

On May 10, deputies received information on Lopez's location and served a search warrant at a house in the 200 block of Vista Bonita where Lopez surrendered without incident.

Lopez is at the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $80,000 bond.
