A 29-year old Mesilla Park man faces 38 counts of sexual child abuse in Dona Ana County.

If convicted, Guerra could spend almost 700 years behind bars.

Tuesday he faced a jury who heard testimony from one of his alleged victims.

The alleged abuse happened over a span of several years, starting when the girls were about 4 years old.

One of the two victims said she remembers being touched inappropriately everyday.

“It's not just one, not just twice she said that in her first house when she was 4 -- not yet in kindergarten. It was more than 20 times,” said Jennifer Padgett, Prosecutor for the state of New Mexico.

The two alleged victims, sisters, both said they were raped by Manny Guerra. The jury heard the two and a half hour taped testimony of one of the girls

“He would tell me I had to go to the room and then I went and then he said to turn around so I did and then he put a blanket over my head,” said the alleged victim.

That's when the victim started to cry, having a hard time explaining what happened next.

“He would take off my pants and he would take oFf his,” said the alleged victim.

What she told the interviewer was that she was raped and sodomized. She said had to perform oral sex on him and that he performed it on her. She stated the abuse happened in several rooms of two homes she lived in.

“While you were sitting on his lap what would he do?” asked Amy Orlando, a prosecutor for the state and the interviewer on tape.

“He would do the same thing,” the alleged victim cried out on tape.

The alleged victim said she one time walked in the kitchen to find the defendant doing to her sister what he allegedly did to her. In describing the feeling that she had at the time the alleged victim described the feeling as “nasty worms.”

The other alleged victim's deposition will be played Wednesday.

Doctors, councilors and law enforcement officers are expected to take the stand in the next two days.
