The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is awaiting autopsy results to determine how a 3-week-old died.

The baby's parents called 911 early Thursday morning to report that their child was unconscious.

Deputies arrived at the home on the 800 block of Southwood in Westway. The baby was taken to the hospital and died.

An investigation is under way into the child's death.

"It is the sheriff's office's policy to investigate all unintended deaths as homicides until ruled otherwise. And when I say homicide, I mean the procedure aspect of how careful we go about investigating this thing," said Dep. Jesse Tovar.

Sheriff's officials said they've already questioned several family members.
