Police: Weekend Shooting May Have Been Gang-Related

A man was shot in a possibly gang-related incident in Dona Ana County, police said.

The victim arrived at the hospital Sunday morning.

He told Sheriff’s deputies at around 1 a.m. Sunday he and his girlfriend were walking in Berino when a truck drove up behind them.

Four people got out in the 300 block of Thompson Road and the victim said he shouted out his gang affiliation.

That's when one of the people pulled out a gun and began shooting.

The victim was hit in his upper torso.

The four people got back in their car and drove toward the interstate.

Doctors said the victim received non life threatening injuries and will be fine.
