EL PASO, Texas -- The lengthy search for the next Socorro Independent School District superintendent is now down to two candidates.

The S.I.S.D. board of trustees invited the finalists to return this week for a second interview.

Those candidates are Dr. Xavier De La Torre and Dr. Anthony Monreal.

De La Torre is the associate superintendent of human resources at Elk Grove Unified School District in California, while Monreal is the deputy superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for the California Department of Education.

There will be public forums for the candidates on April 1 and 2 both starting at 6 p.m. at the S.I.S.D. headquarters.
