EL PASO, Texas -- El Paso police are looking for the person or people involved in a drive-by shooting that left a man in critical condition early Saturday morning. The 24-year-old victim was gunned down outside of Myst nightclub at 524 W. San Francisco St. in the Entertainment District in Downtown El Paso. Saturday evening he remained at Thomason Hospital.Police haven't said if the victim was a patron, but a spokesman with the department said detectives don't believe he was the target in the shooting, and so far, the crime doesn't appear to be gang-related or have ties to Juarez violence.Saturday afternoon, there was no sign of a crime scene outside of Myst, but taking a closer, there were three bullet holes on the walls and door."They told me some of the people out there had heard gunshots and saw people running," said Armando Sanchez, of east El Paso.He was next door at Studio 69, where the staff locked the doors and kept patrons inside until police showed up."The whole place was filled with caution tape. There were cops everywhere," said Sanchez. The drive-by shooting happened at 1 a.m. Police said a dark-colored four-door vehicle drove by, firing several rounds. Officers found the 24-year-old man lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the chest."I never thought something like that could happen. I could've been outside when it happened. I got scared," said Sanchez.Saturday morning a Sun Metro employee called police after they found parts of a gun in the area below the Paisano Drive overpass. It's a couple of blocks from the nightclub, which leads police to believe it may have been used in the crime.Officers, along with BNSF Railway police, went searching for more clues along the railroad tracks. They took pictures of anything that might help lead them to the shooter, including a hand-grip found on top of a railroad car. While the hunt continues, it's left Sanchez thinking twice about partying Downtown."I probably won't go outside. I'll be scared," said Sanchez.Police are looking for a dark-colored four-door vehicle. If you have any information that could help in the investigation, you're asked to call Crimestoppers at 566-8477.
