Some East El Paso residents say one specific stretch of Montana poses a real danger to drivers and they want something done about it.

The speed limit on Montana Avenue near Yarbrough is 55 mph and the traffic's often heavy. In the last three months, there's been about 20 collision that were reported to El Paso police.

Lori Prieto who works at a Salon facing Montana said those are only the ones reported to police.

"Just going too fast, going too fast and I guess they're trying to rush. They're going too fast and they hit themselves bumper to bumper," said Prieto.

Two weeks ago, a Las Cruces Public Schools bus with children inside was involved in a collision. No one was seriously injured but Prieto said she's seen some bad accidents here.

"Some are serious because the fender benders. I saw it one time, his hood was up," said Prieto.

Some of the accidents have occurred near residential streets like Peerless Place and Firestone Drive, where drivers try to get onto Montana. Last week, this stretch of Montana was brought to the attention of city officials. The city has since initiated an investigation along these intersections that could lead to improvements along this stretch of Montana.

Montana Avenue is a Texas Department of Transportation roadway, if improvements are needed, the city would have to involve TxDOT.
