A rollover wreck sends six people to the hospital Thursday morning.

An SUV was heading westbound on Interstate 10 between Anthony, N.M., and Vado.

New Mexico State Police said the driver, a 55-year-old grandmother, lost control of the vehicle rolling over into the median several times.

"It looks right now, from initial comments that we've received, is that the driver was distracted temporarily," said Officer Oscar Freitze.

An 8-year-old girl was thrown out of the SUV and airlifted to Thomason Hospital.

The grandmother driving was also injured. She along with the other four children in the car were taken to Thomason Hospital by ambulance.

There was no word on their conditions.
