One man faces multiple charges on suspicion of beating his pregnant girlfriend.

Sunday, Dona Ana County sheriff's deputies said they were called to the 200 block of Swannack in Vado after a woman reported 18-year-old Damian Daniel Barreras had beaten her up.

The victim, 3-months pregnant, told deputies Barreras tried to strangle her, then punched her in the stomach, before firing a weapon into the ceiling, while her 2-year-old child was in another room.

Officers arrested Barreras on eight counts of aggravated battery.
