Posted: 5:40 pm MST February 2, 2009Updated: 2:29 pm MST February 3, 2009

Volunteer firefighters from Horizon were called to a mobile home on Jeremiah Drive in the community of Sparks on a mobile home fire at about 3:30 on Monday afternoon.

Nothing could be salvaged. The fire has was extinguished, but even after two hours firefighters were still finding hot spots as they moved the rubble.

Capt. Rudy Portillo from the Horizon Fire Department said the mobile home was already engulfed in flames when they arrived and more firefighters had to be called.

Another home which is under construction behind the mobile home was in danger of catching on fire. This time, volunteer firefighters from the Socorro Fire Department were called in to help because manpower was low.

They worked together to save the structures close to the fire. No one was home at the time of the fire, in fact the residents of this home have not been contacted. They may need the help of the Red Cross.

Fire officials are still working on finding the cause of the fire.
