Police Continue Investigation Into Security Guard Attack

Posted: 7:33 pm MST January 21, 2009Updated: 9:16 pm MST January 21, 2009

Some students at Andress High School are questioning their safety after an incident involving a security guard found tied up in a girl's restroom.

"That's really scary, because anything can happen, it happened to a security guard, which they are supposed to keep us safe, how are the students supposed to feel," said Kayla Anderson, a junior at Andress High School.

According to the security guard's statement, she was approached by two male suspects hiding in the restroom stalls. After being threatened with a knife, the men proceeded to tie her up and flee the scene. School officials ordered a lockdown of the school around 9:30 Wednesday morning after the incident was reported. The lockdown was lifted two hours later.

"We want to let parents know and reassure them that we are taking this very seriously, if it is a prank or not, we investigate everything to the highest degree, and there are going to be consequences for these suspects," Brenda Zubia of EPISD said.

Zubia said the guard was not hurt, and that investigators are still trying to determine whether the suspects were students or trespassers.

Further details have not yet been disclosed except that there are major discrepancies between security footage and statements from the victim and witnesses.
