Retailers Get A Boost On Black Friday

For some people, shopping on Black Friday is just out of the question.

“It’s just too crowded,” said Sherryl McCaffery, who decided to shop on Saturday instead. “I like a nice relaxing day after Thanksgiving,” she told KFOX.

While the mobs of shoppers kept some people away from malls on Black Friday, it drew others in and put a smile on retailers faces. Preliminary sales numbers show retailers got a boost Friday. ShopperTrak, RCT Corp. is reporting that shoppers spent $10.61 billion this Black Friday, compared to $10.3 billion on Black Friday. That’s an increase of 3 percent. The company tracks 50,000 retail outlets.

“I found a few good deals,” said Albert Mitchell.

ShopperTrak hasn't said if the deals made a difference, but it's safe to say they didn’t hurt. Now all eyes will be on Cyber Monday, when retailers are hoping shoppers will open up their wallets and spend money online.

"I'm just not a shopper,” said McCaffery. “We like to shop online and through catalogs. I don't like the crowds."
