Gas Price Falls To Near $2 Mark

While Rudy's Country Store is known for it's original barbecue sauce, that is not what a line of drivers streaming out of the parking lot wanted on Sunday.

"It's $2.01," said Joyce Sanchez, talking about the price of regular unleaded at Rudy's Country Store.

"It feels good to have cheap prices again, it helps a lot," said Melissa Caves, from Horizon City.

It was regular unleaded gas for half the price of a pork loin sandwich.

"I've been putting gas here and it's the cheapest place in town to put gas, so every day I come by here and when I'm getting low I always come and fill up," said Sanchez.

Sanchez had sat in line for 20 minutes, and hadn't even gotten to the pump yet.

"I would wait an hour, because it's, 4 cents -- makes a difference. Twelve cents makes a difference," Sanchez told KFOX.

"Hey, it's gas, I've got nothing else to do right now, so I just come in and get some gas," said Dan White, from East El Paso.

White went to kfoxtv.com and discovered some of the cheapest gas in town.

"I just looked on the computer and saw that the gas was pretty low price, so I came by," he said.

Caves commutes from Horizon City Thomason Hospital five days a week for work.

"Its more than a full tank every week, so it's about $60 times two," said Caves.

All of them were attracted to Rudy's not for the lean brisket, but the lean price on gas.

"You know, when you are living paycheck to paycheck with the prices nowadays it does make a difference," said Sanchez.
