Couple Complains About El Paso Wedding Planner
The Association of Certified Professional wedding consultants allege that an El Paso Wedding Planner fabricated certification. The wedding of their dreams was placed in the hands of a businesswoman a couple now said is a con artist.Adolfo Zavala and his fiancee, Denise Carrasco, signed a contract with Eliza Rey under which she promised to book vendors, make invitations and tend to a slew of other priorities. But now they've had to do all the work themselves. "We would try to contact her; she wouldn't answer or call us back."Carrasco said, "I went to Sam’s, I went to Wal-Mart, I went to Target. I went all over the city only to get this much, which is nothing."As KFOX reported last year, a number of couples complained about Rey's lack of services and alleged she owed them money. Now, not only are couples coming forward again, but the Association of Certified Professional Wedding Consultants has a complaint as well.Ann Nola's name on the certificate is not only misspelled, but her signature is forged. Also, she had a plaque on the wall in her office that says she was the wedding planner of the year for 2007. It says it was awarded by the Association of Bridal Consultants, which said such an award doesn't exist."I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the certificate because it was a makeshift certificate. She must have done some research on the Internet and obtained our logo and cut and paste the certificate and was hired because of her credentials," said Nola.Carrasco said she paid Rey $450 and she doesn't know if she'll see that money again.
