El Paso Remembers Men Of Company From WWII

Thanks to a memorial unveiled Friday, the Men of Company have a permanent place in El Paso.

The El Paso Public Art Program, together with the city of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department, began plans for the memorial more than a year ago.

Under the direction of bronze artist Julio Sanchez De Alba, the memorial celebrates the day a group of El Paso soldiers braved the Rapido River waters during World War II only to be defeated by German forces.

The memorial is on display now at the Chalio Acosta Recreation Center located at 4321 Delta Drive.
