Couple Indicted On Animal Cruelty Charges

Posted: 9:19 pm MST November 3, 2008Updated: 10:39 pm MST November 3, 2008

A Mesilla couple stands accused of more than 100 counts of animal cruelty.

An indictment charges Lester Boyse, 58, and Carol Boyse, 57, with 55 felony counts of extreme cruelty to animals and 52 misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals.

As KFOX reported back in August, Mesilla authorities went to the New Mexico State University employee’s home after reports of a dead horse on their property.

Officials then found four dead cats inside a freezer, five horses, two goats and other animals on the property.

Authorities said the living room had a chain-link fence dividing it from the rest of the house, making up an apparent kennel.
