Las Cruces Police have arrested two men in connection with their alleged involvement in the Sept. 26 murder of 16-year-old Bobby Zertuche.

Ricky Joe Juarez, 19, of the 9700 block of Clovis in Brazito, N.M., and Jesus Adam Herrera, 20, of the 5300 block of Sunny Acres Dr., are both in custody.

Around 1:15 p.m. on Sept. 26 police responded to the 800 block of north San Pedro St. where multiple gunshots were reported to have been fired. At the scene, officers found Zertuche had been shot at least once. Zertuche was transported to Mountain View Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police learned the afternoon of Sept. 26 that the suspects were seen leaving the crime scene in a vehicle described as a light green, low-profile, Chevy Silverado pickup.

Herrera was arrested on a warrant one week ago, on Oct. 21. The warrant for Juarez was issued Tuesday. He was arrested early this afternoon at his home in Brazito.

Las Cruces Police detectives are continuing to investigate the Sept. 26 shooting and additional charges are pending.

Both were charged with one open count of murder and each are being held on $250,000 bond.
