Man Dies In Early Morning Crash

A man has died after an early morning crash in Central El Paso.

According to police the accident happened around 2 a.m. at the 1700 block of Copia.

When police arrived the man showed no signs of life.

Special Traffic Investigators were called out to the scene and determined the driver was driving south bound on Copia when he lost control and drove over the right curb striking the cement bridge abutment for the Railroad overpass.

Police have not confirmed if speed or alcohol are factors in this crash.

Police have not released the name of the driver.

This is the 12th fatality involving a motorcycle this year as compared to 7 at this same time last year. For 2008, 5 of the motorcyclists were wearing helmets and 7 were not.
