Water Main Break Floods Business

A water main break at the Phillips 66 located at 7373 Mesa St. flooded the gas station around 2 a.m. Friday.

The owner of the convenience store told KFOX he was working late, and noticed water accumulating in the parking lot. He immediately called 911.

When fire crews arrived, water was flowing rapidly onto the property and into the store.

Fire crews brought sandbags to keep the water from getting inside of the store.

However, there was about an inch of water inside the store. The water continued to stream onto the property for more than two hours before water crews showed up to turn it off.

Despite the soggy mess, the owner is keeping his cool.

“The owner is taking it very well considering the water that has gotten into his business. He is taking it very well,” said Lt. Edward Kleinhans of the El Paso Fire Department

There is no word on why the water main broke.
