Vinton Teen Found Unharmed, Alone

Posted: 8:00 pm MDT September 24, 2008Updated: 9:51 pm MDT September 24, 2008

Fifteen-year-old Janelle Calderon was found Wednesday alone and unharmed. Sheriff's deputies said the Vinton teen went up to Customs and Border Protection officers while crossing the Paso Del Norte Bridge from Mexico into the U.S. She told them she was the girl at the center of an Amber Alert.

"The investigation is still very much ongoing. We do not have the suspect," El Paso County Sheriff's Investigator James Belknap said.

The search is now on for Calderon's ex-boyfriend and alleged kidnapper, 20-year-old Julio Adrian Martinez, who sheriff's deputies said pulled her into his car Tuesday night in front of her home and took off.

"She didn't want to, but he forced her," Calderon's mother, Lucy Guillen, said.

Guillen also said her daughter's relationship with Martinez was abusive, and that he made threats against her and the rest of her family.

For teens and kids, Calderon's kidnapping is a reminder of the danger of unhealthy relationships.

"Sometimes they act nice, but then when you really get to know them they're actually psyco people," Anthony, TX resident Isabel Morales said.

Martinez is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, 130 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. He has tattoos on his face, and a tattoo of "Janelle" on his right wrist. He also has tattoos of "NS" on his fingers and "505."

Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers at 566-8477.
