El Paso Salvation Army Provides Aid In Presidio

Several El Paso agencies continue helping the Presidio community and in turn the Salvation Army is making sure those first responders are taken care of.

"Food, drinks, we have plenty of water, we have plenty of ice out there but we don't have things to make meals,” said Major Ron Wildman of the El Paso Salvation Army.

Currently there are about 20 to 30 volunteers from different El Paso agencies providing aid in the flooded Texas City of Presidio.

Major Wildman said the Salvation Army is tasked with providing food and drinks for all of the first responders as well as the people doing the sandbagging.

The El Paso Salvation Army headed to Presidio last week and after working countless hours, headed back Monday morning to restock. They provide three meals plus snacks throughout the day.

“Right now we're serving about a thousand meals a day we've asked for an additional canteen, the feeding mobile kitchen. We're really desperate right now for funds to pay for this operation, we appreciate any support the community of El Paso can give to help us with our neighbor community in Presidio,” said Wildman.

Wildman tells KFOX so far they've spent about $10,000, but yet they have only received about $250 in donations. To find out how you can make a contribution you can call them at 544-9811.
