A Las Cruces woman competes for $10,000 in the “Build A Better Burger” national contest in California. The contest is sponsored by the Sutter Home Winery in the Napa Valley.

Sharyn Hill spent a few hours Sunday afternoon practicing how to make her Ole Mole chicken burger for her friends to taste.

She called it "New Mexico on a bun," with traditional Mexican and New Mexican flavors.

She entered the non-beef category, and the competition is next Saturday.

Hill will be cooking for judges while being filmed by the Food Network.

Hill said her recipes have won several contests in the past 10 years.

“I won enough to pay off my mortgage; I won enough to buy a new Santa Fe. I’ve had some very pleasant and moderate successes with cookie contests,” said Hill.

Stay tuned to KFOX for an update on Hill as she prepares her burgers for the judges next week.
