11 Shot After Fight At Nightclub

Six men and five women are recovering at area hospitals after a shooting at Graham Central Station in East El Paso.

Police said the shooting happened shortly after Graham Central station closed at 2 a.m. Sunday. Officials said a fight started inside, and spilled out into the parking lot, and that's when at least one person opened fire.

"We're really lucky in a situation like this, this many people there, that many rounds fired, for 11 people to get hit, for someone not dead tonight is really lucky," said Officer Chris Mears with the El Paso Police Department.

Two of the 11 remain in critical but stable condition.

"I've been on the department 14 years, I can't ever remember a situation where we have had 11 people shot at the same scene," Mears told KFOX.

El Pasoans who came to shop or eat at businesses near Graham Central Station on Sunday were met by police, police tape and a huge crime scene.

"Wow, it just seems like the violence is getting worse and worse, and closer and closer to home," said Jesus Balderas from East El Paso.

"It's pretty crazy, because there is always stuff that happens around here," said Valerie Encines, also from East El Paso.

Those who work nearby were also turned away.

"I thought something had happened, but something serious, 'cause they taped all the way to the corner," said Unice Sanchez, who works at Little Caesars Pizza. "It's scary because we work here and then we get out late, and sometimes we stay out by ourselves and it's scary."

Police said they believe the shooting is gang related. They also told KFOX that some of the victims were taken to William Beaumont Army Medical Center, however they would not confirm if anyone involved is in the military.
