EL PASO, Texas -- As Chris Hoffman describes it, getting his roof fixed is turning out to be a long nightmare. KFOX first reported his story in July. Hoffman said Precision Roofing and Siding fixed his roof this year, but his home still leaked afterward. He said he hasn't been able to reach anyone from the company and now he believes the owners have opened a new company-- New Era Roofing.

"They going to do it to somebody again,” said Hoffman. “ They crooks, they gonna do somebody roof and do the same thing they did to me."

New Era Roofing has an advertisement in the phone book. Hoffman believes these are the same owners of Precision Roofing and Siding because, New Era roofing uses the same phone number as Precision Roofing and Siding. Hoffman has papers from Precision with the phone number 496-5401. That same phone number is listed with the company New Era Roofing.

"I call them but they won't return my calls," Hoffman said.

KFOX uncovered that Precision Roofing and Siding opened under the name Christy Belanger. Dallas Belanger worked for the company. On July 30, city records show Dallas Belanger opened New Era Roofing. The very next day, John Belanger opened New Era Roofing using a different address. A Building and Permit department phone operator confirmed that New Era Roofing is bonded with the city under the names John Belanger and Christy Sutter. The New Era Roofing under Dallas Belanger is not bonded.

KFOX went to the address where New Era is listed at 8316 Polaris but nobody answered the door. That address lists the owner as John Belanger.

"The city has a requirement that roofing contractors keep a $10,000 bond and you can make a claim on that bond amount," said consumer attorney Tom Wicker of Mendel Blumenfeld.

Wicker said the bond for Precision Roofing and Siding, the company that first performed the work on Hoffman's home, has expired.

So for Hoffman the journey for justice continues. He said he has filed a complaint with Rio Grande Council of Governments and had a hearing scheduled for Aug. 19 for himself and Dallas Belanger, but Belanger did not attend. He said he is also working with Justice of the Peace to resolve the matter.
